Proper mounting is essential for your solar panel system’s stability and safe operation. At DynoRaxx®, our engineers have created rock-solid solar mounting systems that are lightweight, durable, and easy to install. As you decide between fiberglass and traditional ballasted solar mounting, it is our pleasure to help you consider the advantages of each and help you make the best decision for your needs.

Fiberglass racking systems are ideal for use in rocky soils, atop hard surfaces, and areas where simple, rapid installation is desired. Cost-effective and reliable, fiberglass ballasted systems are portable, flexible, and durable.

Fiberglass Ballasted Racking Systems

Our fiberglass ballasted racking systems are 100% fiberglass. The system consists of a two-legged or four-legged basket and a rail. These are connected via fiberglass rays and DynoPins (an advanced, proprietary design that blends the features and functions of spring pins and cotter pins) to create a strong, stable foundation for your solar panel array. Further, the baskets are fiberglass with titanium dioxide and carbon black, protecting the unit from UV radiation.

Advantages of Fiberglass

Because the system is made of fiberglass, there is no risk of corrosion. It is also extremely sturdy and capable of withstanding everything from heavy snowfall to the humidity and salt inherent in coastal conditions. Additionally, the design of our fiberglass ballasted racking systems facilitates considerable airflow around the solar array, which helps keep the system cooler than other designs. Best of all, the compact nature of the fiberglass ballasted racking system allows you to install more solar arrays in the same space than other racking systems.

How it Compares to Traditional Mounting Systems

Because of the design, fiberglass ballasted racking systems are easier to install than traditional solar mounting systems. Installation requires no tools and takes little more than connecting one element to the next until the installation is complete. This means that for most jobs, installing each module takes about a minute. Traditional solar mounting systems take around 10-12 minutes per module.

Further, fiberglass ballasted racking systems are lighter, which makes them cheaper to install and handle. The system is delivered on a pallet that is easily maneuvered into position. Once in place, the pieces can be easily lifted to the roof without the need for forklifts and other heavy machinery required by traditional mounting systems.

Finally, fiberglass ballasted systems rely on gravity to secure the solar array. This means there is no need to install heavy posts, expensive piles, heavy footings, or expensive anchors that traditional solar mounting systems require.
